| Suffolk Natural Disaster Area Due to Drought |
| SUFFOLK VA NEWS -- U.S. Secretary of Agriculture designates Suffolk among sixty localities in Virginia as primary natural disaster areas due to drought. Excessive heat and drought reduced crop yields in many localities causing farmers hardship and impacting their operations. An additional 24 counties and 19 independent cities received designations as contiguous disaster areas. Pending requests for primary disaster designations remain for seven counties: Botetourt, Charles City, Craig, Gloucester, Henrico, Matthews and New Kent... |

| Local Dump Squad Gang Member Sentenced |
| SUFFOLK VA NEWS -- A member of the "Dump Squad," a Newport News neighborhood-based unaffiliated local street gang has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering two people and racketeering. According to National Gang Threat Assessment of 2009, Hampton Roads, is assessed with less than 500 gang members per city, except for Norfolk, which is assessed with 2500 to 3499 active gang members. | SUFFOLK VA NEWS -- Whaleyville Ruritan Club is hosting a chicken dinner and bake sale on March 27, 2010. Whaleyville Ruritan Club is dedicated to improving the community through fellowship, goodwill and volunteer service. The name "Ruritan" is the combination of the Latin words "ruri" for open country and "tan," small town, so suggesting the promotion of rural and small town life.
